Complain to the firm first, in writing. If its final reply does not resolve the complaint, take it toFIDReC, the Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre, within 6 months. Filing is free, mediation has no claim limit, and adjudication covers claims up to S$150,000.●FIDReC · 17 Oct 2026

The steps

  1. Complain to the firm. Put it in writing, keep copies, and ask for its final reply.
  2. File with FIDReC within 6 months of the final reply, using its online form. Filing is free.
  3. Early resolution. For 10 business days after you file, the firm may contact you directly to settle.
  4. Mediation. A FIDReC case manager helps both sides reach an agreement.
  5. Adjudication. If mediation fails, you can pay a case fee and have an adjudicator decide. The decision binds the firm but not you.

FIDReC says most cases are resolved within six months. It is not a government agency and does not give legal advice. Details: FIDReC FAQs.

Which firms FIDReC lists

FIDReC's member list, read on 17 October 2026, names 782 financial institutions, including insurers and payment firms this site does not cover. Of the 1,928 firms in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory on this site, 604 appear on it under the same legal name.●FIDReC member list · 17 Oct 2026

We match by legal name only, because FIDReC publishes no company registration numbers. A firm not shown may be listed under another name, or may serve only accredited or institutional investors and so not be required to join. Ask the firm which scheme it belongs to.

A firm holding more than one licence type is counted under each.

Frequently asked questions

How do I complain about a bank or financial adviser in Singapore?

Complain to the firm first, in writing. If its final reply does not resolve the complaint, you can take it to FIDReC (the Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre) within 6 months of that reply. Filing is free.

How much can FIDReC award?

FIDReC can adjudicate claims of up to S$150,000 each for claims filed on or after 1 July 2024. Mediation has no claim limit.

Which firms must belong to FIDReC?

Under the Financial Services and Markets (Dispute Resolution Schemes) Regulations 2023, financial institutions licensed by MAS and serving retail customers must subscribe to FIDReC. That covers banks, insurers, capital markets services licensees, licensed financial advisers, insurance intermediaries and some payment institutions. Firms serving only accredited or institutional investors are not required to join.

Is the adjudicator's decision binding?

It binds the financial institution, not you. If you reject the decision you can pursue the complaint another way, such as in court. FIDReC has no appeal process.

What can FIDReC not handle?

Commercial decisions and pricing such as interest rates and fees, complaints solely about investment performance, cases under police or other law-enforcement investigation, complaints more than six months after the firm's final reply, and cases already settled or decided in court.

Who can file a complaint?

Individuals, sole proprietors, small businesses (group turnover of S$1 million or less) and charities (gross receipts of S$10 million or less) that are customers of the firm, plus some beneficiaries, trustees, insured persons and third parties covered by an insurance policy.
