Venture Capital (VC)

Also known as: VC

Definition
Venture capital is equity investment in early-stage private companies, typically Series A through Series C rounds. Higher risk than private equity, with a power-law return profile dominated by a handful of outsized winners.

Singapore is a major VC hub for Southeast Asia. Notable SG-based VC firms include Vertex, Insignia, Jungle, B Capital, GGV Capital (now Granite Asia, Asia VC arm), Sequoia Capital Asia (now Peak XV Partners), Temasek-backed Vertex / Pavilion / 65 Equity Partners. UHNW clients access VC via direct GP funds (US$1–5M minimums) or via SFO direct deployment. Performance fees typically 20% carried interest above 8% hurdle.
