Source of Wealth

Also known as: SoW

Definition
Source of Wealth is the documented and verified origin of a client's overall wealth — business sale, inheritance, employment income, investment returns. Singapore private banks require evidenced SoW during KYC.

SoW evidence varies by category: business-sale proceeds need M&A documentation, share certificates, bank-statement trails; inherited wealth needs probate documentation; employment-income needs tax returns and pay-slips over multi-year periods. SoW is a regulatory requirement under MAS AML / CFT, not optional. Documentation effort is material for many UHNW clients with complex multi-source wealth histories.
